Leading the way in magnetic HSC separation Miltenyi Biotec offers a broad range of cell separation reagents for HSC/HPC isolation, all of which are based on renowned MACS Technology. Our founding product for HSC/HPC isolation, CD34 MicroBeads, has been cited more than 2,000 times since its release in 1993. Since 1997 CD34 has been available as a CE-marked reagent for use in the clinical setting — in fact, many of our products are manufactured under GMP conditions, making the step to the clinic so much easier. If you are interested in translation research, click here to find more. |

Hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells are a heterogeneous population of cells capable of wide-spectrum differentiation and lineage-commitment. MACS® Technology allows for the fast and easy isolation of HSCs/HPCs from single-cell suspensions derived from any source. HSC cell separation products at a glance:
- The CD34 MicroBead Kit is ideal for the isolation of HSCs
- The CD34 Multisort Kit allows sequential sorting in order to separate subpopulations of CD34+ cells
- CD133 MicroBead Kits are designed for either single-step or indirect isolation of pluripotent hematopoietic stem cells
- The CD117 MicroBead Kit can also be used for the selection of certain HSC subpopulations
- Lineage Cell Depletion Kit allows the enrichment of Hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells from single-cell suspensions by the depletion of mature hematopoietic cells

Mouse HSCs at various stages of differentiation can be enriched or depleted by a range of isolation strategies. Mouse HSCs from bone marrow are defined as lineage marker negative (lin–) and Sca-1+CD117+CD90low/+, with MicroBeads available for labeling of each of these three antigens. The long-term reconstituting ability of HSCs from bone marrow is highly increased in CD105+Sca-1+ double-positive cells
- The Anti-Sca-1 MicroBead Kit (FITC) is ideal for the isolation of hematopoietic stem and early progenitor cells
- The CD105 Multisort Kit (PE) allows the isolation of long-term repopulating HSCs (LTR-HSCs)
- CD117 MicroBeads allow the isolation of both early and late hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells
- Control staining of cells can be achieved using our broad portfolio of fluorophore-conjugated antibodies

If the reagent of your interest is not included in the MACS® Cell Separation Reagent portfolio, you can simply use indirect magnetic labeling for customized cell separation. Indirect magnetic labeling is a convenient alternative to direct labeling as any primary antibody may be used for efficient MACS Separations.
Discover full experimental flexibility with indirect magnetic labeling:
- Anti-Fluorochrome MicroBeads for MACS Separations with fluorochrome-conjugated primary antibodies
- Anti-Biotin MicroBeads, Streptavidin MicroBeads for MACS Separations with biotinylated primary antibodies
- Monoclonal or Polyclonal Anti-Ig MicroBeads for MACS Separations with unconjugated primary antibodies
